FAQs
Wareemba Community Living takes the opportunity to offer here some answers to common questions that may be asked of our organisation and the role of our support services.
Q. Does WCL offer accommodation? A. No. All our support is provided in the client's home or the premises in which the client lives.
Q. Do you have respite care? A. No. We do not have a facility to accommodate people. However we can provide support at home as a form of respite.
Q. Do you have group homes? A. No.
Q. Is there a waiting list for your support services? A. Yes, for non-compensable clients. WCL receives some Government funding which is limited. If a client has no compensation they are assessed and then either placed on our waiting list or referred to another source. For compensable clients we are usually able to provide support immediately, once approval has been gained.
Q. Do you provide nursing care? A. No. WCL is not a nursing agency and does not provide specialist nursing care.
Q. What sort of support do you offer? A. One on one support in the client's own home and in the community.
Q. Why a specialist service? A. We have the ability to provide support with an extensive understanding of Acquired Brain Injuries.
Q. What is the role of your support workers? A. To assist clients to live independently in the community.
Q. Which areas does your service cover? A. The full metropolitan area of Sydney, together with Bathurst/Parkes.
Q. What ages do you take care of? A. Ages between 14 - 65 at time of referral.
Q. Do you have somewhere for your clients to attend? A. We do not have a specific facility with organised activities. Our office is fully accessible and any meetings can take place provided they are pre-arranged.
Q. Do you have a recreation facility? A. We employ a recreation facilitator who organises both individual and group activities.
Q. What do you do with clients who require personal care? A. All our staff are trained to provide personal care.
Q. Do you have sleep over shifts? A. Yes, we provide sleep over shifts.
Q. Do you have a minimum shift that your support workers work ? A. Yes, this is a minimum of 4 hours.
